Nuts for Nutella !

I’m not going to lie, spending my entire holiday not being able to eat utter junk and watch series was extremely hard even though the month of fasting was such bliss I couldn’t experiment as much as I wanted to. In this week following Eid I found some mini marshmallows that we had left over after our mini smores with mini Marie biscuits which in itself is heavenly but I wasn’t satisfied just yet. Which brought me to making fresh buns which I then beautified with Nutella, strawberry’s and mini marshmallows and then grilled for a little while. For someone who claims to not be a fan of chocolate I sure do over indulge in it!

Homemade rolls from mummys recipe book:

makes 12 small rolls or 6/7 big rolls.

1 Packet of yeast

500 grams of bread flour plus a little extra to dust your surface.

2 tsp salt

2 tsp sugar

2 tsp olive oil

350 ml of warm water.

Method:

  • Mix yeast , flour and salt together.

  • In a separate bowl combine oil, sugar and warm water.

  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and start forming a dough.

  • Knead for at least 10 minutes.

  • Leave your dough to rise in the bowl under a damp cloth for one to one and a half hours till it has approximately doubled in size.

  • Divide your dough into equal sizes and place on a greased baking tray. Leave under the damp cloth for another 30 minutes.

  • 200°C until your rolls are the colour that you desire.

Whilst the rolls are in the oven take two tbls of Nutella and melt it on the stove adding a tsp or more of nestles cream/milk to your preference and mix till melted .

Remove the rolls piping hot from the oven and cut in half and smother the nuttela over the hot roll.

Cut fresh strawberries over the Nutella and add as many mini marshmallows as you desire.

The rolls being hot out the oven may be enough to melt the marshmallows but I still put a very tiny bit of butter on the frying pan and toasted it so that the mallows would be gooey. Alternatively pop it back into the oven while the oven is off but still warm.

Decorate: with icing sugar drizzled over the top and strawberries on the side with remainder of the melted Nutella on top of them.

p.s – if you’re a little lazy try this out and buy some fresh rolls instead , make sure you pop it on the stove or in the oven to let the mallows melt.

Enjoy cheat day everyone ;)
